By definition and word grafting, KONAMII is an annual inter-orphanage homes football competition. Although three years aback I had no idea about this, to be precise I am aware as at when writing – about its textbook definition. Like every other event — from Ówàmbè’s to children school parties — people attend for various reasons more than we can list in a few seconds. The subtle unknown reasons ‘why’ donators attend KONAMII were what I sought out at KONAMII 2016.
Here are some of the interesting reasons as provided by donators.
Most of us come ‘cos of our friends, but ultimately it’s about charity
.
‘To see old friends’.
The key questions went as thus,
- What do you think Konamii is about?
- Why did you come for this year’s Konamii?
Entertainment.
I don’t know. You get to see celebs. Fun!
Charity. You get to see people you haven’t seen in a while.
To donate. To chill out and have fun.
To donate. To see (music) stars.
Babes.
Apart from babes. It’s fun, you get to network and meet new people.
Big bombom
It’s about charity, and giving to the orphanages.
I don’t know, but he is KONAMII
I don’t know. It is fun.
It’s fun, and you get to meet people.
For me it’s about HOPE. A #1500 is small to me, but through it I am helping a kid’s life; giving him hope and a future. A charity; getting children to interact, and me supporting in my own way.
It’s a charity helping orphans. Same answer.
Charity. My friend is one of the organising executives.
For charity.
I don’t know. A friend invited me, this is my first time.
To make one love, and have fun.
I don’t know. I know it’s for donating, a friend invited me, this is my first time.
It’s about charity. I was bored.
Charity. It’s a means for campus students from various schools to ‘socialise’ and meet.
For charity. I’m a vendor; offering my goods on sale to donators, whilst supporting the orphanages.
The Foundation – it’s about the children. After God, children are the ones I respect the most. Unlike adults you can be with them for two to three weeks without getting offended, because you have once been like them. …after the kids are done, so am I. Should KONAMII say we are doing this for the next three days – for the children – I will do it.
Irrespective of varying reasons, everyone comes to KONAMII for functional reasons, expressed in the best way they saw fit. The art of socialisation and giving, work in tandem to provide a complete event.
Some candid images…
Ultimately it’s all for our leaders of tomorrow.
